Amphibious living – building for fish and extending humans with gills

Interview with Ricardo Gomes and Jun Kamei who were part of the first expedition of the project Deep Sea Minding. Jun Kamei is biomimicry designer with experience in material science research and product design who lives between London and Tokyo. Ricardo Gomes is a Portugese architect with an artistic mind-set. From 2005 to 2011 he worked  with the artist Olafur Eliasson in Berlin and with his partner James Bae he runs the KWY architecture studios in Kopenhagen and Lisabon.
“Deep Sea Minding” is a three-year transdisciplinary research project conceived by the Danish artist group SUPERFLEX and commissioned by TBA21–Academy. Deep Sea Minding describes the frontier diluted by a vertical migration: bringing fish to occupy our homes and humans to mind the deep sea. The perfect location to explore the thin and ever-changing frontier between land and sea is the South Pacific, the place where Deep Sea Minding started off and the location of the interview.
